The Boston Bruins have dropped their third straight game, as the Bruins struggled against the Phil Kessel and the Toronto Maple Leafs in a 4-3 loss.

The Bruins did have two different leads, and managed to lose both of them. They got their first lead, 1-0, when Daniel Paille scored off a shot from behind the net that banked off of a Toronto defender. Mark Stuart tried to pass the puck too Gregory Campbell in front of the net. The attempt got blocked, and the puck went to the other side of the net too Paille. Paille also tried to pass it too Campbell, but the puck went off of a Leaf defender and in.

The Toronto Maple Leafs would follow with a Phil Kessel deflection out of mid air to tie the game at one. The goal was Kessel’s first career goal against the Bruins, it took him 10 games to do it. Then, the Leafs went up 2-1 off of a Mikhail Grabovski backhand into a wide open net. Chara and Thomas got tied up preventing Thomas from making what should have been an easy save.

With a great effort from Brad Marchand the Bruins tied it at two on the powerplay. Marchand got leveled in front of the Toronto goal, but still got a shot of. The puck deflected up into the air, and Campbell swatted it out of the air to make it 2-2.

Patrice Bergeron gave the Bruins a 3-2 lead after putting a loose puck past Toronto goalie James Remier.

Toronto followed the Bergeron goal with a snipe from Phil Kessel on the powerplay to tie it at three. Then right after Grabovski scored to give Toronto a 4-3 lead which they did not surrender. Kessel and Grabovski’s 2nd of the night respectively.

David Krejci had a chance with about 15 seconds left to send it to OT, but Remier flashed the glove to preserve the lead and win for the Leafs.

One mistake was with the goalie pulled was Claude Julien decided to send out 4th line grinder Gregory Campbell. Campbell was out on the ice over skilled players like Nathan Horton, Blake Wheeler, Michael Ryder, Tyler Seguin, etc... Campbell has been great and all but he should not be out there with the goalie pulled down by one goal. CSNE’s Joe Haggerty called him the Mike Lowell of the Nathan Horton trade calling him what many considered a throw in. Lowell was the throw in when the Red Sox traded for Josh Beckett from Florida Marlins. But however Campbell is a bottom line guy, who is a great penalty killer and can score here and there, but should not be out on the ice in that situation.

3 Stars:

1. Mikhail Grabovski

2. Phil Kessel
